MARKETING FOR THE FIRST TIME
We got a new product in the company, an ever wanted product, an exciting one to say but yet buyers of other similar product have not grow interest on it, in other words they have not demanded a satisfying quantity of it- Too annoying, that the head of our marketing team made a statement that motivated us all as a marketer. Guess what he said “let’s market for the first time ever” this means, we needed to market as if we have never marketed before to see our desired sales on this exciting product we have at hand. In a short note here is what we did:
- Take an eye attracting dynamics picture of the product: we quickly pick up the digital camera and shut out a colorful picture of the product we needed to advertise in such a way that the layout was so eye catching and we expose different components that made up the products in the picture.
- Outlining the functions of the product components: The product itself has been known what it is used for, therefore stating it functionality again is a waste of time rather what we did is stating the functions of each components of the product, showing a better picture of recommendation through the statement of upgraded product. This means we tell the buyers why they need the product and as well show them in an image format the function of satisfaction when they lay their hand on the product
- Writing down the benefits: This is quite simple but some marketers got it wrong here as a result of trying to write what will create sales without minding satisfaction. The truth is that business is all about satisfaction. You and I will not transact business we did not derived satisfaction previously. So mind the way you write out the benefits of your new invented product as this can make or break your business. Here is what we did at this step. We asked what area of need this product covers in human community. Then, we out stated the benefits through the need of the product invention.
- We decided to paste the above steps on a hand distributed flyers: We knew advertising on places like the television stations, radios, newspapers and internet will increase sales but that is not what we ought to do as we have a large list of buyers in the company. Our plan is to get them informed and informed of what this product carries and why they must have it. This hand distributed flyers was made available at different locations in the company from the cashier, customer care to the director’s office. This is for easy flow of the flyers to customers that walk in for shopping.
- We send out a thanksgiving letter to our customers: You can’t imagine this but this is where we got it right. Sending an envelope containing a thanksgiving letter and a hand bill of the product, increased sales. We thank them for their initial visit and business they have done with us and as well recommend the new product to them.
Here are good five steps we took that turn the newly invented product to hot cake in the market but above all, step four and five really surprise us irrespective of the fact that the whole step contributed to make our dream come true.
We succeeded this way because we dance on a large sales list. This helps us cut advertising budget but the disadvantageous side of this way of marketing is that you make sales to only already made customers. This means you are not making new customer at hand, which is not recommended for baby businesses. Rather if you happen to fall into the category of small business operators, from step four, you make sure you paste your flyers outside different places for awareness or better still if you have the money, you use media to reach your marketing goal.
